Lum and Abner can be quickly described as the "hillbilly" version of Amos 'n' Andy. That's not to say they were a weak imitation; the characters of Lum Edwards and Abner Peabody were just as sharply drawn as Amos Jones and Andrew Brown.
The series ran for 20 years, like Amos n Andy, mostly as a 15 minute show, with virtually all the characters voiced by Chester Lauck and Norris Goff.
