"The Man Called X" was Ken Thurston, internal espionage agent. Played by Herbert Marshall, he was sort of an early prototype for James Bond, except he was working for the Americans. Originally a summer-replacement series, it eventually became a full-year show, and briefly in the 1950s, a television version was produced.
